Rules of Competition

  • DESIGN :
    • The purpose of the design is to cultivate unity, sportsmanship, and support for UGA Athletics.
    • The design may not include: inappropriate language or negative images towards other programs, universities, and/or conferences.
    • The design must be original – no copyright infringements.
    • No one sport may be featured. If one is included, all must be included. We are one Bulldog Nation.
    • Designs should focus on cultivating pride in school, campus, and athletics.
    • We reserve the right to refuse entry if we deem the design inappropriate and/or against the values and mission of UGA Athletics.
    • When using the Bulldog Head or Power G, you may not alter the image in any way. This is to protect the Georgia Bulldog brand. 
    • Must be a student-athlete to participate.
    • Design are due by March 30, 2018.

 

  • SELECTION :
    • Student-athletes will have the opportunity to vote for their favorite design via Instagram. The design with the most likes will be chosen as the finalist, and, pending administration’s approval, printed for the Handbook’s cover.
    • The name of the artist will not be made public in the selection process to decrease the chance of it becoming a popularity contest.

 

 Specifications for the Handbook Cover Design

  • FORMAT :
    • Standard, finished trim cover size: 5.5” x 8.5.” Image bleeds: 5.75” x 8.75.”
      • Allow .5” (1/2”) margin on the binding edge (left side) for binding.
      • Allow .25” (1/4”) margin for any images or text not intended to bleed.
      • The handbook is vertically orientated.
    • Artwork should be at least 300 dpi resolution, preferably in .TIF, .JPEG, .PDF, or .PSD format.
      • Increasing the resolution of previously saved image will not increase the quality.
      • Any low quality images, such as images saved off a website, will not reproduce well in print.
      • If you need photographs, fonts, or logos, please contact Michelle Versfeld (michellev@sports.uga.edu).
    • Templates available at www.schooldatebooks.com.
    • Design can be created with photographs, original artwork, computer graphics or a blend.
    • A limited range of colors can be printed (see below). Please be aware as you are designing.
    • Images may be scanned so, if you would rather hand-draw or paint a picture, you may do so.
