ATHENS, Ga. — Georgia gymnastics freshman Rachael Lukacs was named to the Southeastern Conference Community Service Team, announced by the conference on Tuesday, March 26th.

The Community Service Team looks to highlight an athlete from each school who gives back to their community in superior service efforts.

Since arriving on campus, Lukacs has dove head first into emerging herself in the community of Athens.  With her bubbly personality and genuine heart for others, Lukacs is always the first to volunteer when an opportunity arises.

The Hillsborough, New Jersey native is involved with “Reading Across America” where she goes to local preschools and elementary schools to read to the children. She volunteers with the Special Olympics who come to the Georgia facility each week and has volunteered at the Athens Half Marathon and Triathlon events. She has also been involved with raising money for the Cancer Society and local food drives, bringing toiletries and other needed goods to homeless shelters. Lukacs is a devoted member of the Georgia and Athens community and her efforts will continue to spread as she grows as a student-athlete at UGA.
