BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Senior right-handed pitcher Destin Howard was named to the 2026 SEC Softball Community Service Team after announcement by the Southeastern conference on Tuesday morning.
Howard served the Athens community and beyond in variety of forms during the 2025-26 campaign. She has participated in several Georgia Way events, including a drive for local emergency services professionals that provides stuffed animals to young children in the midst of emergency events. Howard assisted with the Georgia Way pajama drive as well as the local Special Olympics events. She engages in Books for Keeps, a local organization that provides books to local youth attending Barrow Elementary in Athens. Howard has spent time working with the UGA Food Pantry. A member of last year’s SEC Softball Community Service Team, she received the 2025 Clifford Lewis Leadership Award, which is given to a Georgia student-athlete who embodies dedication, motivation, discipline, and a positive attitude while seeking the good of the group above personal gain. She served as the 2024-25 SAAC President and was a member of the 2024 Spring SEC Academic Honor Roll.
This is Howard’s second inclusion on the Community Service Team as she was a 2025 honoree. She is the third Bulldog to earn multiple Community Service team designations joining Shelby Walters and Mary Wilson (Avant) Ross. Each have two inclusions.
