Connor is a junior on the UGA Men’s Basketball Team. He is currently studying Finance and had the opportunity to participate in an internship with Vistra Energy in Dallas, Texas during the summer of 2017.
This past summer, I was fortunate enough to intern with the Corporate Development team at Vistra Energy in Dallas, Texas. I spent 8 weeks in Dallas assisting in the evaluation of potential M&A deals, gathering information and preparing materials for senior leadership review, and I conducted industry analysis and research in support of Corporate Development projects.
During my internship, the company was officially listed and traded on the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE). I was able to travel all over Texas to attend conferences and tour power plant facilities in Vistra’s portfolio. This opportunity showed me how to run a successful corporation in a highly competitive industry. The Georgia Way allowed me to pursue an internship that has inspired my career path for the future. It has opened doors to many experiences that will help the transition into the real world once my playing days are over. The Leadership Grant allowed me to cover all my traveling expenses as well as paying for business formal clothing for my 8 weeks in Dallas. This summer was a crucial step for me to get started on my professional journey. I am eternally grateful to the UGA Athletics and The Georgia Way for assisting me along the way and being a resource to all student athletes, so that they too can achieve their dreams off the court.
