University of Georgia graduate outfielder Josh Stinson has been named to the 2024 Southeastern Conference Baseball Community Service team, the league office announced recently.
Stinson, a native of Lawrenceville, Ga., was the 2024 Inclusive Excellence Award recipient from The Georgia Way. He is an active member of UGAAA Student Athlete Advisory Council (S.A.A.C), and his community service activities include the following: volunteering for annual Special Olympics Hometown Rivals Baseball Game at Foley Field and Relay for Life cancer fundraiser. He is a member and graduate of the UGAAA Leadership Program (L.E.A.D). Stinson was the SEC representative at the NCAA Student-Athlete Leadership Forum and a 2023 SEC Community Service Team member. He is a 2023 graduate in mechanical engineering.
On the field this season, Stinson has seen action in 22 games including four starts in centerfield. He has posted a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage in 14 total chances. Also, he has been a late-inning defensive replacement and pinch-runner, scoring six runs while collecting a pair of hits, two stolen bases and one RBI.
In a continuing effort to recognize the accomplishments of student-athletes beyond the field of competition, the SEC names a Community Service Team for each of its 21 league-sponsored sports. This program highlights an athlete from each school who gives back to his community through superior service efforts.
