The Georgia Way was designed with both current and former Georgia Bulldogs in mind. We seek to prepare current student-athletes for their life after they leave Athens as well as assist graduated Bulldogs with career transitions, networking, and a sense of belonging to the Bulldog Nation years after they leave UGA. Our desire is for all UGA student-athletes – past and present – to feel connected to UGA Athletics as a whole, not just their individual sports. We hope to be a mediator for all generations of Georgia Athletes. We believe the relationships between alumni and their university are mutually beneficial for a number of reasons:
Networking: A university is only as strong as its alumni. Keeping in touch with your university, classmates, and administrators helps to expand your network of connections. In May of 2016, 5,552 students – undergraduates and graduates – walked across the stage at spring commencement. This suggests over the last five years 25,000 students graduated from UGA! Think of all the connections one could make if everyone stayed connected to UGA. In Athletics alone, we have had 7,528 student-athlete graduates! It’s been said everyone is related by six degrees of separations. Staying involved and up-to-date with UGA Athletics increases your chances of knowing the next influencer in your life. Career Services: The Georgia Way is here to help our student-athlete 
alumni. We would love to assist in any way, whether it’s editing resumes, searching for job placement, or networking. The UGA Career Center also has a designated Alumni Career Services Specialist who can help.
Community: We were not meant to do life alone; people need a support system in their lives. Being involved with UGA Athletics provides you with an automatic group of acquaintances. There’s a common denominator – y’all are Bulldogs – and this gives you a reference point for telling stories and sharing your favorite Georgia memory. Remember those fun Saturdays tailgates waiting before its time to tee it up between the hedges, then being surrounded by +92,000 of your closest friends while cheering on the Dawgs. Opportunity to Give Back: Being involved with the UGA Alumni Association and The Georgia Way is an opportunity to invest in the next generation. The Georgia Way strives to cultivate a culture of “Once a Dawg, Always a Dawg.” We want our alumni to feel just as much a part of UGA as the days when they were in Athens. We believe building relationships between alumni and current student-athletes is one way to commit to the G. Alumni Events: The UGA Alumni Association Chapters organize a variety of activities such as community service events, watching football games at local restaurants, and attending UGA sport events (including away competitions).
