Senior Rinko Mitsunaga has been named to the SEC Community Service Team for women’s golf. The group, which features on golfer from each of the 14 conference schools.
Mitsunaga is a senior from Roswell, Ga., who has been a standout on the course, in the classroom and in the community throughout her four seasons in Athens.
From a community service standpoint, Mitsunaga has taken part in numerous projects coordinated by the UGA Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC). Some of those efforts include: UGA’s Relay for Life; the “Hunger Bowl” benefitting the Food Bank of North East Georgia; CASA, an organization dedicated to improving the lives of children in foster care; the “It’s on Us” campaign to stop sexual assault; the “End It Movement” to end modern day slavery; collecting toiletries for Project Safe; the “Homeruns for Hometown Rivals” baseball game with Special Olympians; UGA’s Miracle, which raises funds for Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta; and Safe Routes to Schools.
Mitsunaga, who will graduate from UGA on Friday evening, was named SEC All-Freshman in 2016 and All-America in 2017. She played in 42 tournaments during her career with the Bulldogs and posted 23 top-20 individual finishes, headlined by winning medalist honors at the 2016 Lady Bulldog Individual Invitational.
